Tres noies

Three girls pass by dressed in white,
under a rain of beating sun,
hands joined, cheeks flushed,
hair tossing in the wind.
To their mothers no longer familiar,
eagerly off to who knows where;
parading, it seems, the gladness of meadows,
recasting the heart of the world.
Oh new-found glory, soon but memory!
Sparkling eyes and fervent lips,
hands joined, cheeks flushed,
hair tossing in the wind.
